Beano 3719 Review

Ok - I'm into the Beano again.

The Beano - Issue 3719 Review

Dennis the Menace & Gnasher - 9.5/10 - I really thought this episode was fantastic. The artwork by Nigel Parkinson is great and Nigel Aucterlounie's scripts are really funny. The jokes were good as well.

Minnie the Minx - 9/10 - Usually the 'breaking the fourth wall' things don't appeal to me but this story was different. Again, I loved the artwork and this story was great.

Ball Boy - 8/10 - Some of the jokes didn't do much for me but a good episode.

Number 13 - 9.5/10 - The artwork is just right for the story, and I found the episode very amusing.

Rasher - 7.5/10 - The jokes in this piece weren't my favourites', but the artwork was very good.

Bottom Gear - 6/10 - The artwork was fairly good, but but the joke didn't amuse me.

Calamity James - 10/10 - The first piece of the issue which was actually perfection for me. An absolutely fantastic episode.

The Numskulls - 9/10 - Very amusing. This episode didn't have perfect artwork, but the jokes were fantastic.

The Bash Street Kids - 6/10 - The artwork by David Sutherland was great, but this episode (and most of them) lacks a trace of humour.

The Nibblers - 8.5/10 - The jokes were fairly good, and the artwork very good, and this episode was impressive.

Bananaman - Man of Peel (by Kev F!) - 9/10 - The artwork is growing on me, and the humour was great and made for a fantastic (how many times have I said that word!) episode of Bananaman.

Little Plum - 10/10 - Another episode that was perfect for me. I loved the artwork and plotline. The humour level was very high.

Billy Whizz - 6.5/10 - This 'breaking the fourth wall' episode just didn't fully appeal to me. While the artwork was good, the plot was rather weak. I still thought that overall it was better than BSK and Bottom Gear.

Gnasher's Tale - 9/10 - A strong episode. Everything was great about the piece.

Karate Sid - 10/10 - This piece was the best of the issue for me. I loved the humour, I loved the plot and I loved the artwork.

Roger the Dodger - 8/10 - The plot wasn't my favourite but still good. Jamie Smart's artwork was great as always.

So, I'd rank the pieces in the following order -

1. Karate Sid
2. Calamity James
3. Little Plum
4. Number 13
5. Dennis the Menace & Gnasher
6. Minnie the Minx
7. Bananaman
8. Gnasher's Tale
9. The Numskulls
10. The Nibblers
11. Ball Boy
12. Roger the Dodger
13. Rasher
14. Billy Whizz
15. Bottom Gear
16. The Bash Street Kids

Outnumbered: Series 5 Episode 1 Review

I very much like the television show outnumbered, about an ordinary family; a mum and dad (Sue and Pete) and their three children, Karen, Ben and Jake. This is the fifth series, and you can see they've aged a lot, but the show is still funny. Here's a short review.

The Outnumbered actors are fantastic. We've seen this from the first series and as the cast get older their acting is just gonna get better, and the show has proved this. Karen's class 'mate' coming over was the funniest bit for me, and Ben talking about his play (Spartacus!) and Jake's tattoo were very funny as well.

The show, however, lacks perhaps the chaos of the previous series, and I wasn't giggling as much as I was in the earlier series.

This was a good start to the series though and hopefully it'll get better.

Rating: 4/5 stars.

An Announcement

I'm not really committed to the Beano any more so this blog is just gonna be about...well...stuff.

Beano 3714 Review

My Review

Dennis the Menace and Gnasher - Nigel Parkinson and Nigel Aucterlounie - 10/10 - This is one the best Dennis's of the year. Great, plot, script and artwork. Fantastic.
The Numskulls - Nigel Aucterlounie - 8/10 - The general plot and script is good, and the artwork is good, but with the chance of sounding stupid I didn't the joke at the end. Good, though.
Ball Boy - Alexander Matthews - 10/10 - I can't fault this. Amazing artwork, story, plot, script and everything.
Calamity James - Les Stannage - 9/10 - This was fantastic, but I didn't get that James was hurt then fine, while usually you'll see the impact of the attack. That doesn't really matter, and this story was great.
    Funsize Funnies - 1
Ninja Nun - Andy Fanton - 9/10 - While the artwork isn't perfect, the story was and I loved this.
Rubbish Robots - Lew Stringer - 7.5/10 - I didn't find the joke funny, but the rest of it was great.
Angel Face - Diego Jordan - 10/10 - Perfect. Well drawn and very funny.
Fresh Prince of Buckingham Palace - Stu Munro - 10/10 - Again, fantastic.
Minnie the Minx - Nigel Parkinson - 8.5/10 - I didn't like the joke and pun at the end. This was very good, though.
Billy Whizz - Wilbur Dawbarn - 10/10 - Amazing. the Conqueror - Laura Howell - 10/10 - What an amazing issue so far! This was no different. Brilliant!
The Bash Street Kids - David Sutherland - 10/10 - I can't fault the story or the artwork.
The Castle Rock by ?- 6.5/10 - Well, there had to be an average one sooner or later. The artwork isn't really to my taste, and the dinner joke was ok, but the rest was good.
    Funsize Funnies - 2
Club Penguin by ? - 10/10 - Very funny. Amazing!
BSK CCTV - Paul Palmer - 10/10 - Another brilliant story.
Wallace and Gromit - Andy Janes - 6.5/10 - The artwork is great, but the story wasn't. It was a bit boring.
Bananaman - Wayne Thompson - 8/10 - The artwork isn't my favourite, but the story is so good that it deserved an 8.
    Funsize Funnies - 3
Celebs on a Sledge - ? - 9/10 - Really good, and the joke was pretty good.
Breaking Dad - Baking Dad - Stu Munro - 10/10 - Another amazing story.
The Great Beanotown Faceoff - Diego Jordan - 7.5/10 - Good, but not great. I'm starting to tire of this strip.
    Bottom Gear - ? - 10/10 - Fantastic.
Roger the Dodger - 10/10 - I loved this!

Winner of the Week: Roger the Dodger
Loser of the Week: Wallace and Gromit

Overall, I'd give this issue a 9/10.
